We will be at Dayton FDIM 2024 vendor night, Thursday May 16, with all the kits available.
The QBV 40m/20m-10m Antenna is a small, portable, vertical antenna kit. It is switch selectable for the 40m band then switched for 20m through 10m bands. It is resonant on 40m and 20m but a tuner is required for 17m through 10m. It is lightweight, small, and ideal for portable outdoor or wire restricted areas with a true two minute setup. It can be deployed easily in a minute or two, and collapses for storage to a very small package. All hardware is stainless steel. The longest piece is 7″ long and the complete assembly weighs ~5oz. (138gm). The max. overall length, deployed, is 54″. A ∅1/4″ hole is provided for a variety of mounting possibilities, and a connection with wingnut and crimp connector is provided for the user supplied 20ft. counterpoise.
The antenna connection is a female BNC for your coax, and the antenna is conservatively rated at 20 watts. There are numerous mounting possibilities with the ∅1/4″ hole. A typical mounting could be a simple bracket, light weight camera tripod, a homemade clamp or stand, threaded spike, or a worklight tripod.
All the holes are pre-drilled and tapped. Assembly requires winding the coils, a little soldering, and some mechanical assembly. The tools required for assembly are a Phillips screwdriver, forceps or needle nosed pliers, wire cutters, soldering iron, and some rosin core solder. Depending on your experience, it can be assembled in about an hour or two. On a difficulty scale of 1 to 5, 5 being the most difficult, this is rated at 3.
